Free TEFL

Getting a teaching certificate may be quite costly. If you are passionate about teaching but cannot afford it, you can get one free of charge.

If you wish to get a TEFL certificate, please visit theteflcertificate.com or teacherrecord.com/tefl-certificate. An e-certificate is absolutely free of charge, however, if you want to get a hard copy, you will have to pay around £40. Anyone can apply with no restrictions or commitments.

To be honest, I don’t have any feedback or know anyone personally who has completed it, and I’d assume it’s not accepted by reputable companies. However, you still can practice a lot of EFL teaching techniques, tools, and practical functional language there for your personal and/or professional development; also it will give you good preparation if you decide to do it with another company afterward.

You can also obtain an inexpensive 120-hour TESOL certificate at offers.internationalopenacademy.com/camilaf/course/tesol-course (€119) or worldtesolacademy.com/tesol-course-enrollment (€27).

However, bear in mind, that TEFL and TESOL industries are infamously unregulated, and quick online weekend certificates with less than 100 hours that do not include assessed teaching practice (TP) of real students won’t be accepted by reputable employers.

Also, be advised that there’s absolutely no difference between the two qualifications within the same level.

Unfortunately, there’s no free CELTA, however, if you want to learn what the course is all about and be well-prepared before doing it, please visit udemy.com or studycelta.com.

You can learn more about the differences between CELTA and TEFL / TESOL here.
